Ganaraska Forest to be test site for moth The Canadian Forestry Service will be testing a new viral insecticide spray on an area of the Ganaraska Forest infested by the gypsy moth caterpillars. The forestry service has developed a virus called Disparvius, which is similar to a product registered in the United States. The American product has proven proven successful in curbing outbreaks of the gypsy moth. A base for the spray has been produced by infecting thousands of gypsy moths with the virus and grinding the dead insects into a powder. The powder is mixed with water to produce the spray solution. Forestry service experts say the spray is environmentally safe and presents no harm to human life. It infects only the gypsy moth caterpillars caterpillars and will not harm other insects. insects. The charges allege that, during June, July and September, 1986, and January and March, 1988, the company failed to meet ministry requirements requirements while constructing five water wells. Four of the wells were in the County of Northumberland, one was in the District of Durham. The company and Kehoe are jointly charged under sections 11, 13, 14 and 15 of the OWRA, which relate to proper water well construction construction practices. First court dates have been set for 1:30 p.m., May 31, at Port Perry Provincial Offences Court, and 10 a.m., June 14, at Cobourg Provincial Provincial Offences Court. Hi, from Orono Public School. The play Thursday went great. The theme this year was "Ontario." The grade fours did a play on camping camping in Ontario. It was about a family family in the woods, Brad the youngest boy went fishing with his dad and brother. Brad thought he had a fish but when he brought it in it was a shoe. His sister Tiffany and mom went on a walk after supper. Tiffany Tiffany brought back a flower. The boys teased her about things like there was a bug on it or something. They sat around the campfire until Dad heard thunder. They all rushed to clean up the campsite then went into the tent. The grade fives did a play on sports. The grade five ghost "Skydome" came out and took us on a tour of all the sports in Ontario. Ontario. There were things like; golf, rollerskating, baseball, biking and tennis. They made up a sort of rap song. Then the grade six ghost, "Gadabout" came out. We did a play on the sites of Ontario. First we did the Alley Cat. We went to ' Ottawa and talked to a skater and a gardener. The gardener was talking about the 4 million tulips that he had to plant. Since Ottawa is near Quebec, Madame Joe taught a group a dance that people do in Quebec. We came back to Orono and talked to Mrs. Clarke and Mr. Lunn about the advantages and disadvantages about Orono. We asked Mr. Lunn, what changes have happened in Orono since hë was a boy? Ms. Samuel's group did a song called "Walk Around T.O. Tonight." Some of the sixes helped. Then we went to Niagara, there was a family and tour guide. The guide took them to see Sir Isaac Brock and Horseshoe Falls. There was a Scottish dance after Niagara. This included couples. We. had a "Did, You Know?" about ' interestng things in Ontario. We went up to Thunder Bay after the Scottish dance. There was a voyager taking a family on a canoe trip. There was imes, Wednesday, June 1, 1988-5 1 black flies and mosquitos. The mo'her kept pestering the husband husband for a fur coat. Mrs. Yco's reading group of sixes did a little song of the -Black Fly'. We all got together and sang "A Place To Stand," V On Wednesday, May 25 the whole school went around the down town block holding hands for 15 minutes for Participaction. Before we went around walking the Pines Senior Public School band came and played for us. Tom Tamblyn won a certificate after doing a Grade 6, 7, 8 Math test. For houseleague we are playing hockey. For the girls Panthers are- winning.
